Hey everyone!
We’re keeping it short this week as we’re trying to take a bit of a break here at Parenting is a Joke, and by that I mean I’m waiting for summer to start. Or perhaps I’m waiting for it to end. Either way - the end and beginning are near.
Our new season starts on September 19th, and we’ll be previewing what’s in store for our new season soon! Until then, check out all 40 episodes of Season 1, or you can check out one of them - I talk to Roy Wood Jr., Samantha Bee, Jena Friedman, Chris Gethard, Rachel Feinstein, Catherine Reitman, and Zarna Garg, just to name a few!
Also, after writing about my deep emotional connection to Barbie and specifically the Barbie Dreamhouse in the last few substacks, I FINALLY saw the movie last night!
My review? Well, I had a good time and wished I could just enjoy the movie for the comedy instead of dissecting and analyzing every scene, and every choice, because it reflects upon feminism and women in North American society. Immediately after, I turned to my friend and said, “I liked it. I just wish it came out 10 years earlier.”
I left with one other predominant feeling, and because I’ve been avoiding the reviews and round-ups, I decided to google my opinion: Was the Barbie movie really all about Ken?
The first thing that came up was British GQ and then The Guardian - basically saying the same thing but better and more in-depth. Check them out for yourself.
So, I’ll leave you with that for now, along with my prediction that there is a sequel in the works called Ken. Thoughts? Happy to hear your comments. Always.
More is coming soon so stay tuned! Happy end of August-times.
